Rougier de Camarès and Millau bridge

 
We continue our return journey with several detours…
 
1. Pretty village of Saint-Sernin-sur-Rance on our road to Aveyron.
 

 
 
2. We arrive in Camares at the end of the afternoon…
 

 
 
3. … and we go discover its “rougier”.
 

 
 
4. It is an area of ​​erosion of clays with a high iron content, which gives its characteristic color from which it’s named.

9. Nice boondocking near a private lake. Thanks to the breeder who allowed us to spend the night on his land.

12. After having some lunch there, we take the road again towards the Gorges du Tarn.

Atlantic Ocean (2)

I took the road South again, stopping to see Angel Oak, a giant tree in Charleston. I already stopped there on the way up but it is precisely the day that the State services proceeded with its annual maintenance … 🙁
Angel Oak is immense: its trunk is more than 6 yards in diameter, the tree itself more than 50 yards in diameter and 35 high. Its age is estimated at four or five hundred years. The photo below is a panorama of 60 images! In fact, 4 panoramas 5 images, each of three bracketed images at -2, 0 and +2 EV, assembled to remove dozens of visitors on the site … 😀
