Mechanic build is nearing to the end

With arrival of the drive shafts, the vehicle is rolling soon! Installation and wiring of some goodies continues: rear bumper with spare wheel carrier and storage box, on board air compressor…

The assembly continues…

With arrival of the transfer case, the mechanical assembly resumed without delay! Mounting the transfer case, installing a new pan on the transmission for better cooling, final assembly of the rear axle and main aluminum 39 gallons tank…

So, the list of remaining work decreases by eye ..! .-)

Brand new paint!

Here is VivaLaVida in her new dress. Not bad, isn’t it? 😉

Certainly, there are still quite a bit of work but the transfer case has finally arrived..! After 3 months of delay, it was time!

Work continues…

While VivalaVida should be out of body shop soon, the auxiliary tank and the underfloor rear storage are nearly completed.

Soon a new color…

There were two things that led me to choose a complete new paint:

– Protect the fiberglass roof from UV

– Find a more discreet color than white to better blend in nature.

However, I wanted to keep a light shade to avoid overheating of the interior in bright sunshine. My choice is thus focused on the color “Pueblo Gold,” a standard Ford color easy to retouch if necessary.

The painting should be completed by the end of next week …

Starting for a new dress…

Without wasting time, VivalaVida goes to the body shop …  Hoping that there is no too low bridge on the way! 😉

On the ground..!

That’s it, VivaLaVida found the floor for the first time with her new figure! It is still not “rolling” as long as it still miss a lot of things, including the transfer case and the two fuel tanks. But after many weeks waiting on parts not supplied, it’s nice to see it on its wheels!

It seems more high than in reality because the fender flares will only be raised after painting …

Second filler…

Fill the second diesel tank which will soon be installed involved laying a second fill door. It is now installed.

Waiting on the wheels…

… Chris continues by installing an exhaust temperature gauge to monitor engine conditions and the rear tow hitch.

4×4 conversion has begun

Most of the parts are now by Chris who began the dismantling of the suspension. Here are the first pictures of the conversion.
